CRYPKEY Key Levels and Options in applications

Post by psgama on Wed May 14, 2014 12:30 pm

Hi all. has anyone had much success determining key levels and options in applications? I know its off topic for the dongle board, but there are several users on here including Bfox that have written multiple posts on the subject. I have dumped the process using PEtools and opened in IDA, but can't seem to find anything. My target program will not open correctly in ollydbg, and I'm more familiar with that than IDA.

Any suggested reading on the topic besides the old information on woodmann?

Locate appropriate crypkey API
find the used options and or levels
use the tool to generate the script/answer

Thank you for your response.
I ended up solving my issue. I used ILSpy to open the application as it was a .NET app.

I then was able to find the options easily.

Imports System

Namespace Target.Core
    Public Enum LicenseOptions
        Normal
        Best
        Enhanced
        None
    End Enum
End Namespace

Public Const Best As LicenseOptions = 1

Public Const Enhanced As LicenseOptions = 2
Public Const Normal As LicenseOptions = 0
Public Const None As LicenseOptions = 3

Thanks!
